‘Why Do You Love Me’ review on Canada’s Popjournalism

news0320.jpgAfter 2001’s Beautifulgarbage, an interesting mix of electronic rock with 60s-inspired girl-group melodies, Garbage returns with their hardest single ever. “Why Do You Love Me” amps up the electric guitars unlike anything they’ve done since their 1995 debut. Singer Shirley Manson is as awesome as ever, singing the verses with pop pleasantness, then powering through the chorus, “Why do you love me (x3) / It’s driving me crazy,” like a woman possessed. A welcome return to form that raises expectations for their imminent new album Bleed Like Me. (Interscope)
