Garbage to start working on new songs

Once the new year hits, it’s back to the studio for the band, creating the follow-up to 2001’s beautifulgarbage. We asked drummer and producer extrordinare Butch Vig if they had anything ready for when the time comes. “We spent a little bit of time right before we started the No Doubt tour and went in the studio and jammed, basically, and came up with bits and pieces of songs.
And, a lot of them are really promising, so we’re gonna start to work on those over the holidays.
And, hopefully, around the end of January, go back in the studio and sorta take what we have and start sort of molding and sculpting them into proper songs.” When asked if they would consider recording on a tropical Island like former tour mates No Doubt did for their 2002 release, Rock Steady, Butch and front woman Shirley Manson laughed, admitting there would be too many distractions.
Hopefully we’ll see a new album by the end of 2003.
