Reunion idea is garbage!
Edinburgh lady Shirley Manson has firmly stated that there will be no Hogmanay reunion of her first band – Goodbye Mr Mackenzie.
Garbage front woman Shirley said the she ‘was never consulted about the reunion’ and added, “Somebody in my old band is being a tad presumptuous and opportunistic”.
Organisers of the Hogmanay party in Edinburgh had hoped Manson – who left Goodbye Mr Mackenzie when the band split in 1992 – would team up with the other musicians for a one-off concert. But it is not to be.
Shirley was working in the Edinburgh branch of Ms Selfridge when she was asked to join Goodbye Mr Mackenzie in 1986 as a backing singer and keyboard player. Since then she has gone on to become the singer of the hugely successful American band Garbage.
Shirley is not the only band member to find fame afterwards either – guitarist ‘Big’ John Duncan went on to play with Nirvana.
