Shirley Manson on the 4th album
On interview with Nola.com, here’s the most important:
the band spent two weeks writing new material at Vig’s studio in Madison, Wis. Come January, band members plan to start working on their fourth album in earnest. Guitars may play an even more significant role than on “beautifulgarbage.”
“We consider ‘beautifulgarbage’ our pop record,” Manson said. “We’ve always talked about taking a sound into a new context. We’ve never played ‘Can’t Cry These Tears’ live; it was literally an experiment (in the studio). But I love that song, it was so great to sing.”
“We certainly exorcised some demons with that record. It will be interesting to see where we go with the next record. Luckily we’ve got an incredible fan base who seem to be willing to tolerate experiments. Overall, they want us to make loud rock records, but they’re benevolent enough to tolerate our little idiosyncrasies.”
