Garbage Offer E-Mail Service

Electronic-pop band Garbage and synth-pop group Depeche Mode are offering their fans free, Web-based e-mail accounts. Fans can sign up for the services through www.garbagemail.com and www.depechemodemail.com — the same domain names that will appear in users’ new e-mail accounts. The artists created the services through partnerships with the Internet-commerce companies OneSoft and Electric Artists, which will be developing additional free services for hip-hoppers Public Enemy and Busta Rhymes, as well as swing-band Big Bad Voodoo Daddy; earlier this year, Kiss and David Bowie announced plans to offer similar services for a monthly fee.
