Jessy Moss meets Butch Vig
Australian rapper/singer Jessy Moss landed a record deal. Her debut, Street Knuckles (Australian slang for “stories”), due out July 29th, reflects her multi-faceted story and influences. Moss weaves together rock, hip-hop and R&B.
Moss co-produced her record with Hahn, Camara Kambon (Eminem, Dr. Dre) and Butch Vig (Garbage, Nirvana). Vig signed on after hearing Moss’ home-recorded demos. “There was something really fresh about her,” he says. “I get tons of new artists all the time — from rock to pop to everything in between — and it’s rare where something strikes you that much. It’s a combination of the way she sings and her attitude. She’s got that kind of raspy, growly voice and she can also sing that smooth butter tone.”
