Dave Grohl and Marilyn Manson hang out with Garbage

news0277.jpgFoo Fighters main man Dave Grohl and Marilyn Manson have recently recorded tracks with Garbage to be released on the bands next album. The band has been in Los Angeles recording the follow-up to 2001’s Beautiful Garbage.
In the diary section of the official Garbage website, singer Shirley Manson said that Grohl came into the studio and “hammered some drums down on ‘Bad Boyfriend’ and the result is fucking awe-inspiring.”
Garbage drummer Butch Vig and Grohl have worked together in the past. Vig produced an obscure album called Nevermind, the breakout release by some band that Grohl used to play in.
Marilyn Manson recorded a duet with Shirley Manson, who hasn’t sung with anybody in a studio since her early days with the band Goodbye Mr. Mackenzie. She said, “It was pretty weird to hear Manson’s voice blast into my earphones. I loved it though and I love him.”
Marilyn and Shirley are not related, although she does call him “daddy” on the diary posting.
Also appearing on the album is bassist Justin Meldal-Johnsen, who has worked with the likes of Beck, Pete Yorn and The Mars Volta. John King of the Dust Brothers is producing the album. No release date has been given for the as-yet untitled album.
